چکیده
The rice industry today, very depends on synthetic pesticides to protect against losses. However, pose toxicity and give a negative effect humans, animals, the environment. Thus, this study aims observe effectiveness of natural powders such as neem ( Azadirachta indica ) black pepper Piper nigrum in controlling weevil Sitopylus oryzae during storage. Treatments included experiment comprised control where no plant powder was applied (T0), (T1), leaves (T2), combination with (T3). All treatments were conducted different types rice, Malaysia (local) Thailand rice. 30 g dosage for all 100 20 weevils introduced. laid out completely randomized design (CRD) 32 samples. finding shows significant (P= 0.000) weevil. Meanwhile, (T2) more effective storage due lowest survival rate (Local: 78.75%, Thailand: 55%) highest mortality 21.25%, 45%) both Besides, also showed damage data 20.75%, 20.35%) compared other treatments. Study findings can help meet current health, environment, safety standards.

Polygalacturonase from Sitophilus oryzae: Possible horizontal transfer of a pectinase gene from fungi to weevils
Endo-polygalacturonase, one of the group of enzymes known collectively as pectinases, is widely distributed in bacteria, plants and fungi. The enzyme has also been found in several weevil species and a few other insects, such as aphids, but not in Drosophila melanogaster, Anopheles gambiae, or Caenorhabditis elegans or, as far as is known, in any more primitive animal species. What, then, is th...

Studies were conducted to evaluate the effect of a protein-enriched pea (Pisum sativum var. Bonneville) flour extract against the rice weevil, Sitophilus oryzae in its repellency, toxicity, effect on fecundity, stability and sensory properties. Milled rice admixed with pea flour extract at 1% concentration significantly repelled S. oryzae. Mortality of S. oryzae was found to increase and fecund...

To find a new and safe alternative to conventional insecticides, we evaluated the fumigant toxicity of eight Lamiaceae essential oils and their constituents against the adult rice weevil Sitophilus oryzae. Of the eight species tested, hyssop (Hyssopus offcinalis), majoram (Origanum majorana), and Thymus zygis essential oils showed strong fumigant toxicity against S. oryzae adults at 25 mg/L air...

Physiological and morphological changes in the ovarian system in rice weevils, Sitophilus oryzae (L.) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), reared on wheat seeds were studied as a function of adult age, mating status, and nutrient availability. X-ray analysis was used to determine time of adult eclosion and the duration of development of pre-emergent weevils within the seeds, a process that lasted almos...
